2021 YEAR IN REVIEW 10.09.21 – A powerful evening sky over Ankeny, IA. The following day our entire family got together for the first time since COVID-19 started in March 2020. 05.30.21 – IU Health frontline workers are honored with other frontline workers prior to the start of the Indianapolis 500. 03.30.21 – Owais Algaad, 3, smiles with his mother in-between portraits outside Riley Hospital for Children. 11.07.21 – IU Health Methodist team members hug as the Riley Hospital for Children NICU at Methodist Hospital closes. The babies were transferred earlier in the day to the new Riley Hospital maternity tower. The day marked the start of services at the maternity tower with its new facilities, technology and capabilities to serve mothers and their newborns. 09.14.21 – Aiden Wolfe, 6, completes the 60-foot long walkway to retrieve his stuffed animal during his physical therapy session with PT Molly Scofield. 04.28.21 – Zoe York, 17, practices her dance routine after recovering from a hip injury. 08.02.21 – Tennessee family vacation. 05.01.21 – Braydon Blackenship poses for photos with his sister, Shelby Carroll, prior to her wedding. Braydon was receiving in-patient treatment to recover from a traumatic brain injury. Braydon’s family wanted him to be a part of the day’s events despite him being in the hospital. 02.24.21 – Cyrus Sankey is held by his mother, Lindsay Sankey, while he recovers at Riley Hospital for Children. 04.01.21 – Mass COVID-19 vaccinations at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the assistance of the National Guard. 01.04.21 – I will never forget the day that I received my first COVID-19 vaccination. It was the beginning of the end for a long, horrific chapter.
